As a business consultant, Shamini has represented her client’s interests before international licencing agencies, governmental bodies and other regulatory entities. She possesses a flawless success rate with the BVI Financial Services Commission (“BVI FSC”) for licencing applications and maintains an excellent record with other relevant authorities globally. She is well respected for her ability to breakdown and find solutions for complexed regulatory and compliance issues.
The industry’s respect for her niche has resulted in her attendance at several regional and international speaking engagements about regulation in financial service and Fintech. She is also a very well-respected trainer and presenter in the BVI, with extensive experience delivering training to many BVI licensed entities, including previous engagements as the course trainer on behalf of the BVI Financial Services Institute (now referred to as the Robert Matthavious Institute), and to regulated entities in the BVI including competent authorities.
Over the last few years, Shamini has developed a niche area in the virtual assets regulatory sphere in the BVI, because of her ability to blend her operational expertise as a compliance and regulatory officer, with her legal expertise as a regulatory and licensing attorney. This unique blend affords Shamini and by extension Gold Leaf, the ability to provide clients with practical solutions in establishing effective compliance policies and procedures, to bolster their regulatory programmes. Under her stewardship, Gold Leaf was the first firm to successfully steer a FinTech Sandbox Application in the BVI. Shamini has also been engaged as a member of the BVI FinTech Committee since 2019 .
Shamini acts as Regulatory Counsel and a Compliance Consultant for some of the world’s largest financial services firms and FinTech firms and is also a fellow of the International Compliance Association. She is an avid community mentor and is presently developing a robust corporate sponsorship and internship programme that will be of benefit to prospective newcomers to the industry.
